Better but still dangerous

Health professionals have indicated that vaping negatively impacts cardiovascular and respiratory health.

Both traditional cigarettes and electronic cigarettes contain nicotine, a highly addictive substance. It’s dangerous because it speeds up your heart rate and boosts your blood pressure, which increases your risk of cardiovascular problems, including heart attacks.

There are many things about vaping that we don’t know, like what chemicals are in the vapor and how they affect health over time. Emerging research reveals linkages to chronic lung illness, asthma, and cardiovascular disease. You’re putting your body in danger by being around compounds we don’t know much about yet.


Nicotine, included in e-cigarettes and traditional cigarettes, may be as addictive as heroin and cocaine, according to researchers. The worst part is that many people who use e-cigarettes acquire considerably more nicotine than they would from a traditional cigarette. Users can get a more potent dose of nicotine by buying extra-strength cartridges or by increasing the voltage of the e-cigarette.

Not helpful in quitting smoking

Despite their widespread advertising, the FDA has not approved electronic cigarettes for use as smoking-cessation aids. Recent research has shown that most individuals who use e-cigarettes to quit smoking end up switching to tobacco products of some kind.
