Shaheen Afridi Soars to Become Pakistan’s Highest-Rated T20I Bowler

In the latest update from the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan’s star fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi, has made a significant leap in the T20I bowler rankings. Afridi’s exceptional performance in the ongoing series against New Zealand has propelled him to become Pakistan’s highest-rated T20I bowler.

Afridi, known for his towering height and lethal pace, has climbed two positions to secure the 17th spot in the global T20I bowler rankings. This achievement comes on the back of his outstanding performance in the first three matches of the home series against New Zealand. The 24-year-old fast bowler has emerged as the leading wicket-taker of the series so far.

Afridi’s rise in the rankings was particularly influenced by his performance in the second match of the series. Despite the first match being disrupted by rain, Afridi managed to claim the only wicket. However, it was his haul of 3/13 in the second match that led Pakistan to a decisive seven-wicket victory over New Zealand and resulted in his ascent in the rankings. This performance also saw him surpass his teammate and fellow fast bowler, Haris Rauf, who currently holds the 22nd position.

While Afridi’s achievement is noteworthy, the top spot in the T20I bowler rankings is currently held by England’s Adil Rashid. New Zealand’s Ish Sodhi has also seen an improvement in his ranking, moving up five places to 18th position following his performance in the series against Pakistan.

In the T20I batter rankings, India’s Suryakumar Yadav holds the top spot. New Zealand’s Tim Seifert and Mark Chapman have also seen improvements in their rankings. Seifert has moved up three places to 24th, while Chapman has made a significant 12-place jump to 33rd overall following his unbeaten half-century in the third match of the series against Pakistan.

However, it Is not all good news for Pakistan. Captain Babar Azam has slipped one place to fifth in the T20I batter rankings. Mohammad Rizwan, on the other hand, maintains his position in third place.
