Rauf, Mir, and Khan to Play in BBL 13 with PCB’s Conditional NOCs

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that it has issued no-objection certificates (NOCs) to three Pakistani cricketers who have secured contracts for the 13th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL), Australia’s premier T20 league. However, the PCB has also imposed some restrictions on the players’ participation, keeping in mind their workload and the national team’s future tours programme.

The three players who have received the PCB’s approval are fast bowler Haris Rauf, leg-spinner Usama Mir, and all-rounder Zaman Khan. Rauf and Mir will be playing for the Melbourne Stars, while Khan will be representing the Sydney Thunder in the BBL 13, which is scheduled to run from December 7, 2023, to January 24, 2024.

Rauf, who has been a key member of the Stars’ bowling attack for the past three seasons, has been permitted to feature in five matches. Mir, who has impressed with his performances in T20 tournaments like the Vitality Blast and The Hundred this year, has also been granted permission for five matches. Khan, who is known for his death-overs skills and is a talent from Lahore Qalandars, has been allowed to play in four matches.

The PCB has specified that these NOCs have been allocated within a certain timeframe and that the players will have to return to Pakistan after completing their respective matches. The PCB has said that this decision is in the best interests of all the stakeholders involved, while balancing the importance of game time with workload management.

The PCB’s move to grant limited permission to the players has been welcomed by the BBL franchises, who are eager to have the Pakistani talent on board. The Melbourne Stars have also signed recently-retired Pakistan star Imad Wasim, who will join the side as a replacement for England’s Liam Dawson. The Stars’ general manager Blair Crouch said that he was looking forward to seeing lots of Pakistan fans in the crowd at the MCG with Imad joining his former national teammates, Rauf and Mir.

The presence of these Pakistani players in the BBL 13 is sure to create excitement among cricket fans, and it showcases the league’s commitment to featuring talent from around the world. The BBL 13 will also see the introduction of a draft system, which will allow the franchises to select players from a pool of international and domestic cricketers.
