Quetta Gladiators’ Spinner Usman Tariq Cleared to Resume Bowling in PSL 2024

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 has been a platform for many emerging talents, and one such player who has caught everyone’s attention is Quetta Gladiators’ spinner Usman Tariq.

Known for his unique bowling action, Tariq was reported for a suspect action during a match against the Karachi Kings on March 6. However, after a review at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, he has been permitted to continue bowling.

Tariq’s action, which resembles a baseball pitcher’s throw, has been a talking point in this season of PSL. Despite the scrutiny, Tariq has performed commendably, claiming two wickets in three matches so far. His unusual action and effective bowling have added an exciting dimension to the tournament.

The clearance for Tariq comes at a crucial time as the Gladiators are set to play their last league match against the Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. This match is significant as it will determine the final standings before the playoffs begin on March 14.

Currently, Peshawar Zalmi, led by Babar Azam, tops the table with 13 points and is set to play in Qualifier 1, regardless of the outcome of the Gladiators vs. Sultans match. The winner of this match will face Zalmi in the next round. If the Gladiators win, they will also finish with 13 points, while a victory for the Sultans would take them to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Islamabad United is slated to play in the Eliminator, and the team that loses the Gladiators vs. Sultans match will join them. Unfortunately, the Karachi Kings and the defending champions Lahore Qalandars have been knocked out of the race for the playoffs.

As the PSL 2024 heads towards its climax, the return of Usman Tariq adds another layer of intrigue to the tournament. Fans and experts alike will be keen to see how Tariq’s unique bowling action fares in the high-pressure matches ahead.
