PTI Nominates Omar Ayub for Prime Minister’s Position

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has put forth Omar Ayub, a former minister, as their candidate for the prime minister’s position. This announcement was made by Asad Qaiser, the former National Assembly speaker, during a press conference held outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. The jail is also where he had a meeting with PTI Founder, Imran Khan.

Qaiser expressed his hope that the next prime minister would be from the PTI. He voiced his concern over the recent elections, claiming that the party’s mandate was stolen. In response to this alleged electoral fraud, Qaiser announced that the PTI would initiate a protest movement across the country. The date for this nationwide protest is expected to be announced later in the day.

The former speaker claimed that he was tasked with reaching out to all political parties, as many, including Maulana Fazlur Rahman, ANP, and Qaumi Watan Party, were also protesting. However, he clarified that there were no discussions about nominating individuals for the National Assembly speakership or the Punjab chief minister’s position.

Qaiser didn’t mince words when he called the February 8 election the worst in Pakistan’s history. He asserted that the election was blatantly rigged, a first in the country’s history. He claimed that this rigging was not accepted globally and vowed to contact various political parties to discuss the matter.

Qaiser was adamant that the PTI-backed winners of the recent elections would not vacate their seats and would continue to sit in the assemblies. He also mentioned that a meeting of the parliamentary party would be called in a day or two.

Regarding international reactions, Qaiser expressed his concern over the silence of the US and Europe on the alleged rigging in the recent general election. He reminded these nations of their responsibility to uphold the basic democratic rights of the people of Pakistan. He also urged the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of the alleged rigging.

Accompanying Qaiser was Barrister Saif, who echoed Qaiser’s sentiments. He stated that the US’s statement about the elections was merely cosmetic and urged the US to increase pressure on those involved in the alleged poll fraud. He also conveyed a special message from Imran Khan for the US, urging them to rectify their past actions and keep an eye on election rigging in Pakistan.

In conclusion, Saif announced that Aqibullah, the newly elected Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been chosen as the party’s candidate for the position of Speaker in the KP Assembly. Furthermore, couple of days ago, Imran Khan put forth the nomination of Ali Amin Gandapur for the role of Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
