PSL 9 Captains Pose with the Orion Trophy Ahead of the Tournament

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to begin its ninth season on February 17, and the captains of the six participating teams gathered in Lahore on Tuesday to unveil the trophy for the tournament.

The trophy, named the Orion Trophy, is a stunning piece of art that reflects the prestige and excellence of the PSL. It is made from pure silver and coated in white gold, with each detail plated with white gold as well. The trophy took 900+ hours of non-stop work and 18,000 stones to create, and it stands tall and proud as a source of motivation for the teams.

The Orion Trophy is inspired by the Orion constellation, one of the most well-known and easily identifiable star patterns in the night sky. Orion, in various mythologies and cultures, is often associated with a prominent constellation located in the celestial equator. The constellation is visible from both hemispheres and features three bright stars forming Orion’s Belt.

The trophy launch ceremony was held at the Race Course Park in Lahore, where the PCB Chairperson, Mohsin Naqvi, along with the PCB Chief Executive, Wasim Khan, and the Director of Commercial, Babar Hamid, welcomed the captains and the media.

The captains expressed their excitement and confidence for the upcoming season, which will feature 34 matches across four cities: Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. The final of the event will take place at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on March 18.

The tournament will kick off with a clash between the two-time champions and current titleholders, Lahore Qalandars, and the 2016 and 2018 winners, Islamabad United, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on February 17.

The first leg of the tournament will see 14 matches played at the Multan Cricket Stadium and the Gaddafi Stadium from February 17 to 27. The second leg will move to the Pindi Cricket Stadium and the National Bank Stadium, where 16 matches will be played from February 28 to March 12. The playoffs will then be held in Karachi from March 14 to 18.

One of the most anticipated matches of the tournament will be the encounter between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings, the arch-rivals. The two teams will face each other twice, once at the Gaddafi Stadium on February 24 and once at the National Bank Stadium on March 9.

The PSL 9 promises to be a thrilling and entertaining event for the cricket fans, who can watch their favorite teams and players in action at the stadiums or on their screens. The tickets for the matches are available online and at the designated outlets.
