PM Shehbaz Sharif Expresses Pakistan’s Desire to Collaborate with US for Global Peace

In a recent diplomatic exchange, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan has expressed his country’s eagerness to strengthen its relationship with the United States. This comes in response to a letter from US President Joe Biden, marking the first official correspondence between the two nations since the new government took office in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that Pakistan places great importance on its ties with the US, viewing it as a crucial partnership for achieving shared goals of global peace, stability, and regional progress. He welcomed the cooperation between the two countries on various significant initiatives, particularly in the sectors of energy, climate change, agriculture, health, and education.

A key area of collaboration highlighted by Prime Minister Sharif is the US-Pakistan ‘Green Alliance’ framework. This initiative aims to strengthen climate resilience, support sustainable agriculture and water management, and assist with Pakistan’s recovery from the devastating floods in 2022. The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for this framework, recognizing it as a positive step towards addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.

President Biden’s letter to Prime Minister Sharif extended felicitations to the new government and emphasized the enduring partnership between the US and Pakistan. The US President assured that his country would continue to stand with Pakistan in tackling the most pressing global and regional challenges.

Biden’s letter also outlined a shared vision for a future of greater health security, economic growth, and access to education for all. He reaffirmed the US’s commitment to working with Pakistan to protect human rights and promote progress. The President expressed his belief that together, the two nations could continue to forge a strong partnership and foster a close bond between their people.

This diplomatic correspondence holds significant importance as it comes at a time when Islamabad’s ties with the White House were strained following the cipher saga and allegations leveled by the former ruling party — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The recent exchange of letters between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Joe Biden signifies a potential recalibration of bilateral relations between Pakistan and the US. With shared goals of global peace, stability, and regional prosperity, the two nations are set to work together on various significant initiatives, including the US-Pakistan ‘Green Alliance’ framework. This partnership is expected to bring about positive changes in areas such as climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, water management, and recovery from natural disasters.
