PM Kakar Bans New Year Celebrations in Solidarity with Palestinians

In a recent development, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has announced a ban on New Year’s celebratory events across the country. This move comes as a gesture of solidarity with the Palestinians. The decision underscores Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and reflects the nation’s collective sentiment towards the ongoing crisis in Palestine.

During his address to the nation, PM Kakar emphasized that the entire nation stands with the Palestinians. He stated, “The New Year will be marked with simplicity.” This statement signifies a shift from grand celebrations to a more subdued observance of the New Year, mirroring the nation’s shared grief and concerns over the situation in Palestine.

The plight of the Palestinians has been a matter of international concern. As PM Kakar highlighted, Palestinians have been subjected to severe hardships, with around 21,000 innocent lives lost as of October 7. This grim reality has evoked deep sympathy and concern among the masses in Pakistan, prompting this significant change in the country’s New Year’s celebrations.

In his speech, PM Kakar also expressed his hopes for the upcoming year. He prayed for peace in the New Year, a sentiment that resonates with many amidst the ongoing global conflicts.

In addition to expressing solidarity, Pakistan has taken tangible steps to aid the Palestinians. PM Kakar revealed that Pakistan had dispatched two batches of aid for the Palestinian people. This humanitarian assistance aims to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians and demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause.

On another note, PM Kakar emphasized the importance of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in addressing the challenges faced by the Muslim world. He expressed his views during meetings with ambassadors from various Muslim countries, including Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, and Palestine. The discussions actively involved ambassadors representing Saudi Arabia, Syria, the UAE, and Yemen.

During these meetings, PM Kakar focused on the deteriorating human rights situation in Palestine. He provided the ambassadors with insights into Pakistan’s stance on the matter, reaffirming the country’s commitment to advocating for the rights of the Palestinians.

Pakistan’s decision to mark the New Year with simplicity is a powerful statement of solidarity with the Palestinians. As the country sends aid and advocates for the Palestinian cause on international platforms like the OIC, it continues to stand firmly with the Palestinians in their struggle for justice and peace.
