Pakistan have named their 18-member squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against Australia, starting from December 14 in Perth. The squad will be led by Shan Masood, who was recently appointed as the new Test captain after Babar Azam stepped down from the role in all formats.

The squad features a mix of experienced and young players, with Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Noman Ali being the senior members. The squad also includes some fresh faces, such as Aamir Jamal, Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Wasim Jr, and Saim Ayub who have impressed in the domestic circuit.

The squad was announced by the new chief selector Wahab Riaz, who took over the role from Inzamam-ul-Haq last week. Wahab said that the squad was selected on the basis of performance, fitness and potential. He also said that the squad was balanced and had the ability to challenge Australia in their own conditions.

“We have picked a squad that has a blend of experience and youth, and has players who can adapt to the Australian pitches and conditions. We have also given opportunities to some promising players who have shown their talent and temperament in the domestic season. We are confident that this squad will give a tough fight to Australia and make the nation proud,” Wahab said in a press release.

The first Test will be played at the Perth Stadium from December 14 to 18, followed by the second Test at the MCG from December 26 to 30 and the third Test at the SCG from January 3 to 7.
