Pakistan Suffers Defeat as India Extends World Cup Record to 8-0

In a highly anticipated encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India showcased their supremacy with a seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in the ICC World Cup 2023. The Men in Blue, led by Rohit Sharma's exemplary performance, solidified their impeccable record against their arch-rivals in World Cup history, improving it to an astonishing 8-0.

Rohit Sharma, who had previously dazzled with a sensational 140 against Pakistan in the 2019 World Cup, emerged again as the match's star. He exhibited his batting prowess by top-scoring for India, amassing 86 runs off just 63 balls, a knock that included an impressive 12 boundaries.

India's batting prowess was not limited to Sharma alone, as Shreyas Iyer proved to be the perfect supporting act, contributing a valuable 53 runs to the team's chase. The Indian batsmen collectively delivered a remarkable performance, guiding the team to their target of 192 runs in just the 31st over, securing a win with a remarkable 118 balls to spare. This victory marked India's dominance and significantly boosted their net run rate (NRR).

The day belonged to the Indian cricket team, with their bowlers and batsmen delivering stellar performances. In the first innings, Indian pacers dismantled Pakistan's batting lineup, limiting them to 191 runs. Notably, all five of India's key bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Hardik Pandya, claimed two wickets each, preventing Pakistan from posting a challenging total.

Apart from Babar Azam (50), Mohammad Rizwan (49), Imam-ul-Haq (36), and Abdullah Shafique (20), Pakistan's batting struggled to find momentum, resulting in their entire side being dismissed for a mere 191 runs. Pakistan faced a significant collapse despite a promising start, losing eight wickets for just 36 runs.

The middle-order batsmen of Pakistan, comprising Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, and Shadab Khan, failed to reach double-digit scores, reflecting the challenges Pakistan encountered throughout the match.

With this win, India has maintained a flawless record in the World Cup, emerging victorious in all three matches. Their next challenge awaits as they prepare to face Bangladesh in Pune on October 19. Meanwhile, Pakistan's journey in the tournament takes a challenging turn with their upcoming matches against Australia, Afghanistan, and dominant South Africa, with the latter two contests being held on the challenging wicket of Chennai.
