Pakistan Mourns the Loss of Legendary Actor Khalid Butt

Pakistan’s entertainment industry lost one of its most respected and talented stars on Thursday, as veteran actor Khalid Butt breathed his last in Lahore. He was 76 years old and had been suffering from kidney and liver diseases for a long time.

Khalid Butt had a remarkable career that spanned over five decades, during which he excelled in various fields of art and media. He started his journey in the 1970s as an assistant director and later directed a film as well. He also worked as a radio and TV host, a writer, and a producer. But he was best known for his acting skills, which he displayed in numerous films, dramas, and theater plays.

He was one of the pioneers of Pakistani cinema and drama, who played a vital role in shaping the industry and inspiring generations of artists. He worked with some of the biggest names in the field, such as Shabnam, Nadeem, Babra Sharif, Firdous Jamal, Rahat Kazmi, Marina Khan, and many others. He also collaborated with renowned directors like Shoaib Mansoor, Sultana Siddiqui, and Mehreen Jabbar.

Some of his most memorable and acclaimed roles were in drama serials like Teesra Kinara, Neelay Hath, Boota From Toba Tek Singh, Khaie, and films like Delhi Gate, which was his last project. He also received the prestigious Pride of Performance award from the government of Pakistan for his outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.

Khalid Butt was not only a great artist, but also a man of social values and integrity. He was known for his humility, generosity, and kindness. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who is survived by his widow, two sons, and two daughters.

His funeral prayer was held on Friday after the Asr prayer, and he was laid to rest in Lahore. A large number of people, including his family, friends, fans, and colleagues, attended his funeral and prayed for his eternal peace.

Many celebrities and personalities expressed their sorrow and condolences over his demise on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter). They praised his legacy and achievements, and shared their memories and experiences with him. Among them was famous comedian Sohail Ahmed, who wrote: “Great actor Sir Khalid Butt (a man full of social values) passed away. May Allah grant him a high place in Paradise. His funeral will be held on Friday at Asr time.”
