Pakistan Mourns the Loss of Its First Female Reporter, Prof Shahida Kazi

Pakistan is mourning the loss of its first female reporter, Professor Shahida Kazi, who passed away in Karachi on Saturday. Prof. Kazi was not only a pioneering journalist but also a dedicated educator, mentoring numerous journalists throughout her illustrious career.

Born and raised in Pakistan, Prof. Kazi broke barriers as the country’s first female reporter. Her work in journalism was marked by a commitment to truth and integrity, setting a high standard for those who followed in her footsteps.

In addition to her reporting work, Prof. Kazi was a respected educator. She served as the Chairperson of the Department of Publications at the University of Karachi. In this role, she contributed significantly to both the academic and journalistic spheres, shaping the minds of future journalists and academics.

Prof. Kazi’s passing is not just a loss for her family but also for the entire nation. Her funeral prayers will be held on Sunday at the Zaheer Jama Masjid on Faizan Bismaullah Sunny Side Road in Civil Lines, Karachi. She will be laid to rest at the University of Karachi Cemetery, marking the end of an era in Pakistan’s journalistic and academic history.
