Pakistan Continues to Support Gaza with Fifth Shipment of Aid

Pakistan has once again expressed its solidarity with the people of Gaza, who are facing relentless Israeli attacks, by sending a fifth shipment of humanitarian aid to the besieged territory.

The aid, which consists of winterised tents, tarpaulins, and blankets, was dispatched from Nur Khan Air Base by a special flight of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ministry said in a tweet that the flight would land in Al-Arish, Egypt, where the Pakistani ambassador would receive the aid for onward delivery to Gaza.

The ministry added that this ongoing support underscored Pakistan’s continued commitment to addressing the urgent humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza.

Pakistan has been one of the most vocal supporters of the Palestinian cause and has repeatedly condemned the Israeli aggression that has killed over 27,000 people, mostly women and children, and injured over 66,000 in Gaza since October 7.

The Gaza health ministry said on Sunday that the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli strikes had reached 27,365, while the number of injured had risen to 66,630.

Pakistan has also welcomed the efforts to broker a humanitarian pause in the fighting and a prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and Israel.

Qatar, which has been mediating between the two sides, said this week that Hamas had given its “initial” approval to the proposals, which had also been accepted by Israel.

Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said that the meeting in Paris, which was attended by Qatari, US, Israeli, and Egyptian officials, had succeeded in consolidating the proposals.

He said that there were hopes of “good news” about a new pause in the fighting and a prisoner swap “in the next couple of weeks”.

Pakistan has urged the international community to play its role in ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands and ensuring the establishment of a viable and independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
