Nishan-i-Pakistan Awarded to Saudi Defence Minister in Recognition of Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

In a move that underscores the deep-rooted and historical ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, both nations have reaffirmed their commitment to work together and enhance their bilateral cooperation. This pledge was made during a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

President Zardari emphasized the importance Pakistan places on its relations with Saudi Arabia, highlighting the fraternal bond marked by shared faith and historical relations. He expressed gratitude towards Riyadh for its support during challenging times and praised the leadership of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and the vision of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

The Saudi Defence Minister echoed these sentiments, noting the strong historical, strategic, and defence cooperation between the two nations. He stressed the need for both countries to support each other to further deepen bilateral relations and highlighted Saudi Arabia’s success in increasing economic integration.

In recognition of his meritorious services towards strengthening bilateral cooperation and contributing to regional peace, President Zardari conferred the Nishan-i-Pakistan award on Prince Khalid. The President congratulated Prince Khalid on the conferment of the award and thanked him for his role in promoting defence ties.

The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki. Later in the day, the Saudi Defence Minister met with PM Shehbaz at the Prime Minister House to discuss bilateral matters, regional peace, security, and the situation in the region. They also exchanged views on increasing cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in the areas of defence and security.

This development marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. It is expected to open new avenues of cooperation in various fields, contributing to the mutual benefit of the two brotherly nations.
