Maulana Tariq Jamil Mourns the Loss of his Son Asim Jamil

Renowned religious scholar and preacher Maulana Tariq Jamil is grieving the death of his son Asim Jamil, who passed away on Sunday after shooting himself in the chest at his farmhouse in Tulamba, Khanewal district.

According to Dr Asif Imam of the Tulamba Hospital, Asim Jamil was brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on arrival. The police have acquired CCTV footage that shows Asim Jamil taking a pistol from his guard and firing at himself in the gymnasium of his farmhouse.

Multan Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Chaudhry said that Asim Jamil was suffering from mental illness and had been using psychiatric medication for a long time. He also said that Asim Jamil had divorced his wife two years ago and had no children.

Maulana Tariq Jamil confirmed the tragic news on social media platform X and requested prayers for his son’s soul. He said that his son’s death was an accident and that he was deeply saddened by the loss.

Many political and religious leaders expressed their condolences to Maulana Tariq Jamil and his family over the demise of Asim Jamil. President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and others offered their sympathies and prayers.

Asim Jamil’s funeral prayers were offered on Monday at the Al-Hussain School in Tulamba, which was founded by Maulana Tariq Jamil and managed by Asim Jamil’s ex-wife. Thousands of people attended the funeral, including prominent religious scholars and politicians. Asim Jamil was laid to rest in a local graveyard.

Maulana Tariq Jamil is one of the most influential and respected Islamic scholars in Pakistan and abroad. He is known for his preaching of peace, tolerance, and harmony among different sects and communities. He has also been involved in various humanitarian and social welfare projects.
