Major Shakeup in PSL 9 Draft: Imad Wasim and Hasan Ali Swap Teams

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is gearing up for its ninth edition, with the player draft scheduled to take place in mid-December. The draft will see a reshuffling of players among the teams, with some notable changes already announced.

Imad Wasim, who led the Karachi Kings to their first PSL title in the fifth edition, has been traded to Islamabad United under the Platinum category. Imad expressed his excitement about joining his hometown team, stating, “It is an amazing franchise with great people.” He thanked the Karachi team and its fans for their support during his tenure and looked forward to starting a new chapter with Islamabad United.

In exchange for Imad, Hasan Ali from Islamabad United will now play for the Karachi Kings under the Diamond category. Hasan, known for his passion and incredible performances, has left an indelible mark on Islamabad United. The team wished him good luck with his new franchise.

As part of the trade, Karachi Kings received Islamabad United’s first-round silver pick in exchange for their second-round silver pick. This strategic move is expected to impact the teams’ performance in the upcoming PSL season.

In addition to these trades, Lahore Qalandars’ Mirza Tahir Baig, Islamabad United’s Rumman Raees, and Karachi Kings’ Mir Hamza have been relegated from the gold category to silver on the requests of the franchises ahead of the PSL 2024 Player Draft.

The PSL 9 draft is not just about local players. Several international stars, including Shakib al Hasan, Rassie Van der Dussen, Hazratullah Zazai, and Dawid Malan, have officially entered the draft. Their participation is expected to add an extra layer of excitement to the tournament.

The PSL 9 is tentatively scheduled from 8 February to 24 March, 2024. With the draft approaching and teams finalizing their picks, fans are eagerly awaiting the start of the new season.
