Khawar Maneka Challenges Ex-Spouse Bushra Bibi’s Marriage with Imran Khan in Court

Khawar Maneka, the former husband of Bushra Bibi, who is currently married to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has filed a legal challenge against their marriage in the district and sessions court. This development comes a day after a similar petition challenging the PTI chief’s marriage was withdrawn by petitioner Muhamad Hanif due to technical reasons.

In his petition, Maneka has termed the marriage between Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi as fraudulent and un-Islamic, alleging that it was solemnised during the iddat period, a mandatory isolation period for a divorced woman under Islamic law. He has accused Imran Khan of ruining his peaceful marital life and stigmatizing his family to achieve his unethical and immoral objectives.

Maneka has requested the court to summon Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi and punish them strictly in accordance with the law. The hearing of the case has been scheduled for November 28.

In a recent interview with Geo News, Maneka made explosive claims about his former spouse and her current husband, Imran Khan. He stated that his ex-wife and Imran Khan were introduced by Bushra Bibi’s sister, Maryam Wattoo. He claimed that his then-wife would speak to Imran late at night, which disturbed him.

Maneka also revealed that his ex-wife ended up getting a separate phone number provided by her friend Farah Gogi at the request of the PTI chief. He further stated that at one point, he even got his domestic help to ask Imran to leave his house when the former PM was visiting Bushra Bibi in the absence of her then-husband.

According to Maneka, six months before the divorce, Bushra Bibi moved to her mother and brother’s home in Punjab’s Pakpattan city. Despite his efforts, Bushra Bibi refused to come home. Eventually, he received a text message from Farah Gogi asking him to divorce ‘Pinky’ (alias Bushra Bibi).

Maneka stated that he submitted the divorce papers to his then-wife via Farah Gogi on November 14, 2017. Later, he was instructed by Farah Gogi and Zulfi Bukhari, close aides to the PTI chief, to falsify the divorce date on paperwork and be silent because "Imran Khan wants to become prime minister".
