JUI-F’s Hafiz Hamdullah Injured in Mastung Explosion

In a shocking turn of events, Hafiz Hamdullah, a prominent leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), was injured in a blast that occurred in Mastung, Balochistan, on Thursday.


The explosion happened near a vehicle, resulting in injuries to Hamdullah and several others. Immediately after the incident, local police reached the scene, setting up a perimeter to initiate investigations.


Abdul Razzaq Sasoli, Mastung Deputy Commissioner, confirmed that multiple people suffered injuries due to the explosion. Among those hurt, three, including Hamdullah, were promptly transported to a hospital in Quetta for medical treatment. Before this transfer, Hamdullah received preliminary medical care in Mastung. Authorities have stated with relief that his condition is not life-threatening.


JUI-F's spokesperson, Aslam Ghauri, told Geo News that although Hamdullah did sustain injuries, they were not severe. Ghauri also reported that Hamdullah's security personnel and two party associates were injured but are currently in stable condition. Hamdullah was en route from Quetta to Kalat when the incident occurred. The exact cause of the blast remains undetermined.


According to a representative from the health department, the injured were taken to Shaheed Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital in Mastung. Of the 11 individuals hurt, one is reportedly in a critical state. The Senior Superintendent of Police in Mastung confirmed the toll and said that authorities are working to determine the nature of the explosion.


The incident has been met with a slew of condemnations. Balochistan's caretaker Home Minister, Capt (retd) Muhammad Zubair Jamali, denounced the act of violence, directing relevant authorities to present a comprehensive report. Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), condemned the blast and conveyed his prayers for the injured, emphasizing that perpetrators should face justice.


Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani strongly criticized the explosion, praying for Hamdullah's swift recovery and others affected by the blast. He urged that those behind this act be apprehended swiftly. Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori remarked that such incidents seem to be conspiracies aimed at destabilizing Pakistan's peace and order.
