Fakhar Zaman and Shaheen Afridi Shine in Latest ICC T20I Rankings

In the world of cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings hold a significant place, acting as a measure of a player’s performance and skill. Recently, several Pakistani cricketers have seen a notable improvement in their ICC rankings during the ongoing T20I series against England.

Fakhar Zaman, the left-handed batsman, has made a significant leap in the batting list, moving up six spots to secure the 51st position. His consistent performance has been a key factor in this upward movement. On the other hand, Shaheen Afridi, known for his lethal bowling, has climbed three spots to share the 11th position on the bowling chart. These advancements reflect the players’ hard work and dedication to the sport.

The all-rounders rankings have also seen some changes. Imad Wasim has ascended four spots to the 12th position. Interestingly, he shares this spot with Shadab Khan, who has slipped one place. Despite the slight dip, Khan’s overall performance remains commendable.

In the batting rankings, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam continue to hold strong positions, standing at third and fourth place, respectively. Their consistent performances have been instrumental in maintaining Pakistan’s competitive edge in the T20I format.

The England home series against Pakistan has faced some disruptions due to inclement weather. However, this has not deterred players from both sides from making significant strides in the latest rankings update. This comes just days before the start of the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA, adding to the anticipation and excitement.

England’s captain, Jos Buttler, has risen one place to seventh in the updated rankings for T20I batters, following his impressive innings of 84 in Birmingham. His teammate, Jonny Bairstow, has also made a substantial leap, jumping eight places to 36th on the same list after scoring 21 during the same match.

The West Indies players have also seen an improvement in their rankings following their series whitewash against South Africa. Brandon King has moved up five spots to eighth, Johnson Charles has climbed 17 places to 20th, and Kyle Mayers has ascended 12 rungs to 31st. These significant advancements are a testament to their impressive performances during the series.

Gudakesh Motie, who was named Player of the Series for his eight wickets during the series against the Proteas, has made a remarkable jump in the updated rankings for T20I bowlers. He has risen from outside the top 100 to 27th overall, demonstrating the impact of his exceptional bowling skills.

The bowling list in T20Is is currently topped by England’s Adil Rashid, with Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and India’s Axar Patel following in second and third places, respectively. In the batting rankings, India’s Suryakumar Yadav holds the number one spot, followed by England’s Phil Salt in second place.

The all-rounder category is led by Sri Lanka’s Hasaranga, who boasts a rating of 228. He is closely followed by Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, who has slipped one place and is now ranked second.

These rankings reflect the dynamic nature of cricket, with players constantly striving to improve their game. As the T20 World Cup approaches, cricket fans worldwide, especially in Pakistan, eagerly anticipate more thrilling performances from their favorite players. The current advancements in the ICC rankings are just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting season of cricket.
