Bushra Ansari and Iqbal Hussain Confirm Marriage, Address Societal Stigmas

Renowned Pakistani actress, writer, and singer, Bushra Ansari, and acclaimed director Iqbal Hussain have recently opened up about their marriage, shedding light on societal norms and the concept of age in marital relationships. The couple, who had been the subject of media speculation since 2019, confirmed their union in a recent vlog posted by Bushra Ansari on her YouTube channel.

In the vlog, Ansari introduced Hussain as her husband to her YouTube followers, addressing concerns about her solitude. The couple also discussed societal stigmas in Eastern cultures, particularly the taboo surrounding older women marrying younger men.

Ansari shared that Hussain proposed to her during the shooting of “Seeta Bhagri”. He suggested that since they both lived alone, they should consider marriage. Despite being divorced, Ansari had never publicly announced her marital status. It took her a year and a half to accept Hussain’s proposal, given he was younger and had been divorced longer than she had.

Hussain expressed gratitude towards Ansari’s family and friends, who played a significant role in convincing her to accept his proposal. Notable figures such as Sumbul Apa, Neelum Aapa, and Asma Abbas’s husband were among those who supported their decision. Ansari also acknowledged the support of Rubina Ashraf, Behroze Sabzwari, Badar Khalil, Sultana Siddiqui, and other friends.

The couple also informed their children, who reside abroad, about their decision to remarry. They received positive responses and support from their children. Hussain emphasized the importance of normalizing marriage between an older woman and a younger man, urging society to be more accepting of such unions.

This marriage marks a new chapter in the lives of Bushra Ansari and Iqbal Hussain, challenging societal norms and redefining the concept of age in marital relationships. Their story is like a guiding light for people who want to find friends and joy, no matter what society expects of them.
