Babar Azam Leads Pakistan into World Cup as No.1 ODI Batter

Pakistan's cricket captain, Babar Azam, reigns supreme in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's ODI rankings. Despite fierce competition from India's rising star, Shubman Gill, Azam has held his number-one spot.

India's Shubman Gill, who has been in exceptional form during India's ODI series against Australia, is hot on Azam's heels. The Indian opener has accumulated 178 runs in the first two matches of the series. His impressive performance has earned him a career-high rating of 847, just 10 points behind Azam.

However, with Pakistan not scheduled to play an official ODI match until their World Cup opener and Gill set to sit out India's final clash of their series against Australia, Azam will enter this year's tournament with the top ranking.

The competition between Azam and Gill is expected to intensify during the six weeks of the World Cup. Both players have a significant lead over their nearest challengers. South Africa's Rassie van der Dussen is third on the batter rankings with 743 rating points, more than 100 points behind the leading duo.

In other news, Pakistan's cricket squad is en route to India via Dubai for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup starting on October 5. The team is hopeful and excited about the upcoming matches.

Pakistan also has representation in the top ten of the ICC Men's ODI Bowling Rankings. Shaheen Afridi holds the tenth position with a rating of 632. Afridi has been a key player for Pakistan, and his performance in the upcoming World Cup will be crucial for the team.

In addition to Babar Azam, Pakistan has another batter in the top ten ODI rankings. Imam-ul-Haq holds the fourth position with a rating of 728. The left-handed opener has consistently performed consistently and will be a vital part of Pakistan's batting line-up in the World Cup.

The upcoming World Cup promises to be an exciting event with top players worldwide competing for glory. All eyes will be on Babar Azam as he leads Pakistan in this prestigious tournament.
